Visitors have varying degrees of familiarity with the internet and websites. Advanced users often use a search box while novice users may prefer to browse or start clicking on links. This web book offers four ways to search for information:

2. Cross-referenced index (similar to a site map)
3. Table of Contents by chapter
4. Browse by intuitive navigation buttons (chapters, sub-sections, within page)

Finding your location in the Website
Page indicators tell the visitor where they are in the website structure. The chapter navigation buttons are available from all pages. When a visitor is within a chapter, the other sections of the chapter are clearly visible.

Printable Pages
The pages on ChildAbuseMD were designed so that the entire page text is printed and not cut off on the right side.

Adjustable Font for Better Readability
The web book was designed so that visitors can easily increase the size of the font by going to the View menu, selecting Text Size and click Larger/Increase. Although this is required by law now, many "trendy" websites still regulate the size of their text to a small size font that is light grey (difficult to read).

Resizable Web Pages
In a fluid or resizable web page, the amount of text visible across the width of your web page will vary according to how far open you have the browser window (e.g. Internet Explorer, FireFox, Safari). This flexible design allows for more content or text to be displayed on the page.

Scalable Web Book and Maintenance
The ChildAbuseMD web book was built to allow expansion—new chapters and sections within chapters. Maintenance on this web book is quick and easy because include file technology was used.

Search Engine Information
We implemented correct search engine information according to web standards.

Accessibility for People with Disabilities
The Americans with Disabilities Act requires that all websites provide accessibility. The ChildAbuseMD web book goes beyond basic accessibility (information for images, text navigation links). CustomWebBOOKS also provided a method for skipping repetitive navigation buttons on every page so visitors can go directly to the content. Additionally, a visitor can tab through the navigation if they are unable to use a mouse. Visitors with visual impairments can increase the size of the text.
